MURG PHATAPHAT
Ingredients:
groundnut oil – 2 tbsp
cuminseeds – 1 tsp
bay leaves – 2
green cardamoms – 2
piece of cinnamon – 2.5 cm
cloves – 2
peppercorns – 1 tbsp
large chicken, cut into medium sized pieces – 1
large tomatoes, chopped – 3
large onions, chopped – 3
cloves of garlic, finely chopped – 6
grated ginger – 1 tsp
green chillies, chopped – 4
finely chopped coriander leaves – 1 cup
salt – to taste
Method:
Heat the oil in a pressure cooker, season the oil with cuminseeds, bay leaves, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and peppercorns. When the peppercorns start to splutter, add the remaining ingredients. Stir for 2 minutes.
Cover cook for 7 minutes. No water is to be added, you’ll still find some gravy, when done.
Serve with rice or a plain pulao.
